Let the Corruption prevail….

We look for a certain change in the society and we want the corruption levels to be decreased. My theory of corruption says, "Let the corruption prevail and let it increase to higher levels. This corruption only can bring about a change in the society. A change in the society through a change in the mindset of people."

I have some questions for you before you read the rest.

Why shouldn't anyone accept bribes?? Let it be traffic police, sales tax department, excise department, military, ACB, etc. Do you mean to say that, it's their duty to see public not cross the regulations of the government? Then, who will pay them and their families for their work in other departments? Who will pay for their children's donations? Who will pay for any health problems? If you see today's prevailing situation, no government official wants his children to join in a government school which lacks anything and everything. And this leads to a situation where they need to pay the huge fees, donation, etc. Nobody goes to a government hospital these days except the seriously economically backward people. And he/she needs to accommodate the huge amounts in private hospitals. And if they do go to any other government office they need to give bribe as usual. Can he/she accommodate all these costs within their salary?

Why should anyone work sincerely in a government office? Why should they move all your files in time? Why shouldn't they be bureaucratic? Do you mean to say again that, it's their duty? Do you think that they are making you run round and round the office again and again? Then, who will run round the other office in which he/she has a work? If you think that the electricity department has been making you rund round their office ten times for a single work, he/she might be making rounds around another government office in which he has work. Or else, he has been made to run round and round the politicians or some other office for the recommendation of a job which he must have actually got long back if everyone has done their work perfectly. And hence, they must be resting now after such a run in the life.

Why should any contractor do their work within the given specific parameters and good quality? Why shouldn't the toll gate on a highway (constructed 10 years ago), collect money for another 10years or so? If you mean to say that, the government pays them from our taxes as well as the money collected in 5years will be enough to cover the costs of construction. Who will pay them for the huge bribes that they give to the politicians to win the tenders and who will pay the other government officials such as engineers, etc. All these are just some of those daily experiences that we feel bad about.

As you see this it's a cycle where one cannot live their life or one cannot be happy without feeding the other. And this other needs to feed another who finally needs the politicians and higher authorities to be fed with money. And for many of us in the society, this level of corruption seems to be like a headache but not a real pain in the ass. And for those sections of the community, for which it's like a pain in the ass they are in a condition of getting attracted through other schemes like alcohol for vote, money for vote, etc. Hence, this corruption levels should reach an all time high where it becomes a big pain for at least 70% of the population. And this can only change the mindset of people. And this can only change the lawmakers that they elect. And this can only change them in a way to oppose any kind of evil happening in the society.

Will it be called Vicious cycle of traffic/life??

Everyday all those people travelling across the major cities might have been cursing the roads as well as the traffic. Yes, that's absolutely bullshit to travel one hour to cover twenty kilometres. But the days are here soon for them to happily reach their destinations. Many of those who have been worrying about the rising price of petrol and diesel will also have the same days ahead. Welcome to the vicious cycle of traffic.

In the past, almost 90% of the population travelled using buses, trains, cycles and mopeds depending upon the distance to be travelled and the type of work. And some people even used the mode of walking for small works and short distances. But slowly the income levels raised and the prestige issues within their minds raised exponentially but the roads haven't. Slowly, those who have been using public transport for office or long distance started using cars and for short distances, walking is replaced by mopeds, motorcycles. Added to this is the drift in population from rural india leading to a huge rise in population in the cities.

Added to this are our stupid politicians whom we elect to play with the vote bank for their own priorities. None of these politicians are going to act according to the requirements in time due to the fear of loosing their votes. This makes the situation worse with insufficient infrastructure which, they realize very lately and by the time they plan and finish it, the demand is doubled again. Added to this, are the corrupt bureaucrats and contractors who make it too late with the worst quality making the lifetime of the roads to come down drastically.

The situation is not gonna change even in the coming years with people not ready to change their mindset either regarding their pleasure, prestige issues or the leaders they elect. This makes it too worse leading to 2-3 hours to travel twenty kilometres and still the politicians can't act to widen the roads to a better extent or to come up with new roads for the fear of votes. And they have only one way to sort out these issues at that point of time. It has to copy certain ways that other countries have been implementing. That's what I am trying to speak about. How the traffic will reach its vicious cycle.

Some of the ways that government will be implementing in the future would be:

1. High road tax in cities, zone tax for entering certain zones which will be directly debited from your account through the RFID tag that your vehicle will be carrying.

2. Implementation of metro rail in a better way which will be the best mode to travel in less time.

Cities such as Singapore, London, and Shanghai have high fee for vehicle registration, road tax, compulsory vehicle inspection fee, higher tax for those who don't meet emission norms, time-zone tax in particular areas, bidding for people who want to buy cars. These regulations make people use public transport, which makes the traffic ease and will make it convenient for the public. That's how the traffic will soon reach it's vicious cycle in India very soon. But the question is "Is this really a vicious cycle of traffic or is it making a vicious cycle of life?"

Ofcourse, other countries across the world have shifted to such systems due to insufficient infrastructure. But the way they have planned it earlier, implemented it is what differs from India. We will curse ourselves on that day rather than cursing the roads and the traffic. We will curse for the vote we have given to the wrong ones. We will curse and will pay for our uncaring attitude towards corruption, irresponsible bureaucrats through high taxes. Paying for what we have done in the past...... And should we call it a vicious cycle of traffic or a vicious cycle of life??
